Deploy

Deploy an app

What you can deploy, and what happens between your prompt and a live URL.

Ask your AI tool to deploy. It sends every file of the app to deploy_app, and Inhaus does the rest.

Deploy this to Inhaus as "Commission Calculator".

What you can deploy

Web apps written in HTML, JavaScript or TypeScript:

An app can be both: static files are served first, and every other request goes to the server code.

What happens on each deploy

QueuedBuildingScanningDeployingLive
Building, scanning or deploying can stop at Failed, with the reason.
  1. Queued

Inhaus stores the files and creates a new version. Apps over 4 MB or 200 files are zipped and uploaded first, which your AI tool does on its own.

  2. Building

Packages from package.json are installed (install scripts are turned off), TypeScript and JSX are bundled, and everything becomes one small server that starts in milliseconds.

  3. Scanning

The security scan checks for keys in code, calls to outside domains and known vulnerable packages. An AI review follows a few seconds later.

  4. Deploying

New database migrations run, secrets are attached, and the version goes live behind the gateway.

  5. Live

Your AI tool gets back the URL, version number and scan result. Usually in under a minute.

If the build fails, the previous version stays live and your AI tool gets the error and the last build log lines so it can fix the problem and deploy again.

Who can see a new app

Only you, until you share it. A new version of an existing app keeps everyone's access.

Deploying a new version

Ask your AI tool to deploy again. It passes the app's app_id so Inhaus adds a version instead of creating a second app:

Add a "Region" column to the commission calculator and redeploy.

Anyone who is an Editor or the Owner of an app can deploy new versions.

The app address

The app's address comes from its name and the workspace's address name, joined by two dashes: "Commission Calculator" in the acme workspace becomes commission-calculator--acme.inhaus.dev. The app part is at most 21 characters.

The Owner can change it in the app's Settings tab. When the address changes, the old one stops working, so share the new link.
